When and Where

The event will be held at the Wonderland of the Americas Mall on September 28 and 29. It should start around 10:50 that Saturday. Entry for the event is free, and parking is free of charge as well. The Wonderland of the Americas Mall is located at 4522 Fredericksburg Road, Ste F2, San Antonio, Texas 78201.

A Monster Mash

Each year, thousands of ghosts, ghouls, and other creepy creatures descend on Wonderland for the weekend. For the seventh annual convention, guests young and old are welcome to come together and show off their costumes. Whether you’re sporting classic Frankenstein bolts, the latest in zombie fashion, or a screen-accurate recreation of your favorite horror villain’s garb, you’ll be in good company. Kids can participate in a costume contest on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., and there will be a Scream Queen Beauty Pageant as well.

In addition to the clever costumes, you can expect to see over 100 vendors and booths to appeal to your weird side. There will be old horror film memorabilia courtesy of Creepy Classic Videos, as well as vinyl decals by Jekyll & Hyde. You will see holistic wares by Practical Magic, plus vintage fashions by Rockin Ghoulz Boutique.

Keep an eye out for the event’s special guests, as the Monster-Con brings in familiar faces from the annals of horror history as well as talented artists. This year’s celebrity guests include Robert Allen Mukes, who has appeared in TV series like Westworld and Weeds, as well as intense feature films like Bone Tomahawk. Jennifer Jostyn will also pay a visit, and her many acting roles include a memorable performance alongside Mukes in an infamous Rob Zombie film. Fellow Zombie alum Walter Phelan will also be in attendance. Last year’s guest of honor was Felissa Rose, the star of the 1980s slasher flick Sleepaway Camp.
