Skincare Tips For The Summer

Texas heat is no joke! It can be easy to ignore skincare during the summer. You are constantly sweating and wiping your face outside, so you may think what is the point? We have some tips for a very easy solid skincare routine that will keep your face safe from the sun all summer long.

Go Lightweight

Just like you don’t need a jacket in the summer, your skin doesn’t need a heavy skincare routine. Gentle foaming cleaners are perfect during this season. The lightweight cleaner is exactly what you need during hot days.

Dual Moisturizer

Having a moisturizer that contains sunscreen is a major key to protecting your skin when you are in the sun. A moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or higher is recommended for most people. Although, try to stay away from thick moisturizers. This can lead to clogged pores and acne, especially if you have breakout-prone skin.

Sweat Isn’t A Moisturizer

You may think your sweat is moisturizing your face, but it isn’t. Even if you feel oily you should always add a moisturizer to your face after a gentle cleanse. The outer layer of skin will feel so nourished if you do this step daily.

Use Serums

Using a vitamin C serum is great all year round, but it’s even more beneficial in the summer. Vitamin C helps with fine lines and collagen production. Using a few drops on your skin between cleansing and moisturizing your face will improve your skin tremendously.

Exfoliate

Don’t worry, you don’t have to exfoliate every day. Adding some exfoliation here and there is a great way to open up blocked pores and remove unwanted oils.

Take Fewer Baths

Did you know over-showering or bathing in water that is too hot can dry out your skin? It’s recommended to keep showers around only four minutes long with cooler water temperatures.

Use Lightweight Makeup

If you find yourself or someone you know needing to wear makeup in the summer, make sure the makeup brand has non-comedogenic ingredients. This will ensure you that the products you bought are non-pore-clogging ingredients.

Stay in the Shade

Make sure you stay in the shade! Hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing are a great way to make sure you don’t get too much sun.

Drink Water

It’s recommended to have about 8 glasses of water a day. This will not only keep you hydrated but your skin as well.

SPF

This is the most important part of your skincare! Wearing sunscreen every day is extremely important. SPF of 30 or higher is recommended for any exposed skin. Hands, feet, ears, and even lips need sunscreen too.
